At the beginning of this month I discovered my ISP gives me unlimited bandwidth and I also noticed that I was getting 5meg/sec speeds, when I am only paying for 1.5meg/sec speeds. So, this month I downloaded approx. 200Gigs and uploaded around 60Gigs! On my last ISP, I had a 5Gig download/1Gig upload cap on my conn., and if I went over, I had to pay $5 a Gig. Think I like my new ISP alot more :)

Decided to look for a different OS to use cause I hate Windows XP. So, in the past 4 days I have Downloaded the following:
  • React OS 0.2.9
  • React OS 0.2.9 Live CD
  • SUSE Linux 10
  • Slackware Linux 10.2
  • Gentoo Linux 2006.0
  • Gentoo Linux 2006.0 Live CD
  • Ubuntu Linux 5.10
  • Anonym OS
  • Symphony OS Beta 1 PR1
  • Damn Small Linux 2.3RC1
  • Kororaa Xgl Live CD 0.1
  • KNOPPIX V4.0.2
  • Fedora Core 5 Test 3
  • UltimeLiveDVD
  • Linspire Five-0 Live CD
So far I have only played with the Live CD versions alittle, I haven't installed any of them to a Hard Drive yet cause I only now cleared one up to use for this.

From my little bit of playing, one thing is for sure, I can't wait till the next release of Kororaa Xgl because I hear it is to come in a install version too then. I was completely blown away by the effects in it.

I downloaded most of these via Torrent and Linux Tracker was really helpful there. Another neat site was the Linux Distribution Chooser.

Now to go start playing with them all! :)

So I downloaded Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 the other day to see if Microsoft has decided to get there act together, but, you guessed it, it still sucks! In fact, it sucks so bad, I think I am going to go back to IE 6. Even there attempt at tabbed browsing sucks IMO. Only thing good I can think about it is, that the Google Toolbar still works with this version. So, I am sticking with good ole' Firefox as my browser, and if I need to use another one, my second choice, Opera and coming in last place, IE 6.

How many billions of dollars does Mircosoft have? And they can't even beat a free browser? God they suck!

So, awhile ago Windows XP Home wouldn't boot for me anymore, whenever I tried it would either go through an endless cycle of auto-logining in, and auto loging out, never letting me do anything inbetween or if it would log in and stayed in, Explorer would crash right off the bat, and trying to start it up manually wouldn't work either, and it worked no better in Safe Mode. All my files were in my user directory, and I was the administrator, so that directory was protected, so when I slaved the drive and tried to copy my files to my new Hard Drive, I just got that damn "Access Denied" message. But, one thing I found out in my years of screwing around with PHP is that for some reason it doesn't care if its not suppose to be able to view those directories, regardless of what type of user account it is running on. So, I wrote a little script that crawled my user directory, recreated the directory structure on my new hard drive, then proceeded to copy all my files(about 80,000 files or 90 Gigs) to my new hard drive, without any problems at all.

So, all I have to say is Mircosoft SUCKS and PHP kicks ass!
